I die *resolved*

Fri May 9, 2008, 2:30 PM
Momentary Dev misunderstanding resolved.
--------------------------------

I quit. No really, I do. For, like, the next five minutes.

My computer has crashed twice now, both times while I'm drawing, and both times forgetting that I've saved a hundred times and reverting my image back an hour's time. You know those two new line arts I've posted? The contest piece and Nightshade? Just after I posted each one, my computer spontaneously closed all windows. I lost the entire Air Guardian portion of that file and had to retrace it, and I lost ALL OF NIGHTSHADE! She was colored. Her mane, leg fluff and eye were colored. I was tipping the image to make the tail easier to draw and *POOF!* It errors, closes, and smiles at me. No more Nightshade. No line art, no color, nothing but the jpeg I uploaded here.

I could kill my computer right now.

WHY THE F IS THIS HAPPENING?

I've had Vista all year. It's worked fine until now. I have all the appropriate patches for Illustrator and my tablet. Both have worked fine until now. It's crashed before, but never has it erased all my saved work, taking the file back to its original state, be that a half-finished sketch from months ago, or a blank page. It errors and closes automatically only when I've used up all available memory or have way too many things happening at once, like playing music, have a DVD paused in the drive, am drawing on Illustrator and am downloading all at once. I can understand a crash then... but now?

So yeah, this weekend is hopefully computer-doctor day. My brother is his own geek squad, so maybe between the two of us we can get this thing erased and reformatted. I like the Vista operating system, and I need the Media package it comes with for a current school project, but I can't afford another crash in the middle of a presentation or a school art assignment. So the plan is to uninstall everything, and worry about it all tomorrow.

It's sooooooo frustrating when a computer crashes, especially when you're in the middle of something, and then you gotta start all over again.
*is sad for you* I sympathize with you 'hun.

I had that happen to another laptop of mine. I use Vista as well, but I'd never imagine this happening before. Have you downloaded something off of a website lately? Sometimes certain downloads from different websites can contain viruses in them, and maybe that can be the cause of what's happening.

Thanks, but I've got pretty good antivirus software. Though knowing my luck, that's exactly what happened. I'm still defragging things but I'll keep your comment in mind!

Shit. I only have Norton that's far over expired. XD

Good luck with getting back your computer. ^^

By the way, I saw the art thief...or photograph theif as to better classify them as. They shouldn't be putting pictures they see from a magazine or whatever and posting them as their own deviations in order to get some fake attention they'd think was the actual thing. That's what I hate about art/photography thiefs: They always steal something that isn't theirs, post it on their site, and expect to get extolled for their wonderful photoshooting or art talent. It makes me wonder why they would even have an urge to go out and snatch something unlawfully without the owner's rightful permission. -n-;

It makes me angry just to start thinking about it.

Well, I personally don't think they have the right to any of them; for this one, [link] , they say "This is a nice pic I FOUND", not took. And I also found it through google here, suggesting it does not belong to them if it used of the internet in a blog: [link]

Truthfully, all the categories are wrong as well. I think this person is new here and has somehow not gotten the concept that this a site to post your own personal art, not pictures you find on the internet.

I apologize in advance if my assumptions are wrong, but I really don't think we are wrong at this point :P
I'm sorry! I hope you can fix your computer soon.

Yeah, it is. I have the line art saved though, so I can retrace it.
